LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Our education programmes centre on the Dimension Data University, which is a global corporate learning centre available to all
employees in the Group.
At Dimension Data we are immensely proud
of the personal and professional growth our employees achieve and the way it
impacts on their careers and capabilities.
Our learning and development programmes encompass DDU, learning
partnerships, learnerships and the Saturday School. We highlight these initiatives
in this section of our website.
Dimension Data University (DDU)
DDU is the main portal through which we educate
and develop our staff. It’s available to everyone – if you have initiative
and ambition, then we place resources at your fingertips that allow you to
empower yourself personally and professionally. We actively encourage
employees to take advantage of the opportunities offered by DDU, because not
only the individual, but the company and ultimately the client, also benefit
from greater knowledge and skills.
DDU is The Dimension
Data Group’s global corporate learning centre and is available to all
employees within the Group. It acts as the strategic umbrella for all
learning and development initiatives.
DDU has a strong online presence. This allows
employees to access world class training content from anywhere in the world
via a dedicated portal located on the company’s Intranet. Employees use the
portal to access virtual classrooms, webinars, custom-built online modules,
libraries containing online books and articles, assessments for
certifications, information on training offerings and other self -development
tools.
Learning Partnerships
Training delivered through DDU is conducted in
partnership with world class institutions, partner organisations and
consultants such as Harvard Business School, Manchester Business School,
Cisco and Microsoft. These partnerships are constantly reviewed and updated
to ensure that we are connected to the most current and relevant vendors.
Learnerships
Dimension Data South Africa supports the South
African government’s drive to accelerate the integration of graduates into
mainstream business. Every year we recruit new graduates into our learnership
programme. This team of recruits then has the unique opportunity of a year of
combined learning and business experience that will make them great assets if
they stay on within the company, or contribute to their employability as they
move out into the industry
Saturday School
Dimension Data is involved in a number of corporate social responsibility projects worldwide. We focus here on the Saturday School as an
illustration that our commitment to learning goes beyond the company itself.
The Saturday School project in Gauteng, South Africa, has been running for
more than 10 years. Started by employee volunteers, additional tuition and
reference materials are given to scholars to ensure their ultimate success at
school. Hundreds of school children have benefited from the programme, which
boasts a 100% Grade 12 pass rate.
