environmental sustainability
As a
member of the global business community, Dimension Data is highly concerned
about the impact of climate change on this and future generations. Although
we are not a manufacturer of goods, we recognise that our operations have a
part to play in addressing the causes of climate change (the emission of
greenhouse gases) and we take this responsibility very seriously.
With
this in mind, our company has initiated a programme to integrate improvements
to our own environmental performance with the four components of our business
strategy, i.e. “driving profitable growth; offering a world class
experience to our clients; delivering operational excellence to our clients
and investing in our people and culture”. Our environmental
sustainability programme is based on three pillars:

As a member of the global business
community, Dimension Data is highly concerned about the impact of climate
change on this and future generations.

In
2009, we completed our second submission to the Carbon
Disclosure Project (CDP), ranking amongst the Carbon Disclosure
Leadership Index (CDLI) for the second consecutive year.
In
2009, Dimension Data also commenced the deployment of our Environmental
Management System (EMS). The EMS will be launched first in three pilot
countries (United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia) which were selected as
their collective GHG emissions contribute to over 67% of our FY07 GHG
inventory and they collectively represent a broad suite of the group’s
business models, and consequently, our environmental risk.
Our
EMS will be developed based on the ISO14001 framework, an accreditation which
have already been achieved by two Dimension Data subsidiaries, Express Data
and Plessey, in October 2009.
Dimension
Data has established a dedicated sustainability team to complete the
reporting requirements of the CDP submission program each year, and to
implement our EMS and wider sustainability strategy globally.
