Extract	Why is the ‘human factor’ so important to security? In late 2007 we commissioned independent research house, YouGov, to survey British employees who use digital technology to do their work to find out about their security practices both inside and outside the office. Over 1,200 responded, providingus with an illuminating snapshot of the state of play in this area.What we uncovered was alarming, although perhaps not wholly surprising: there is a serious gap in many organisations’ internaldefences, with employees largely left out of the equation when it comes to security.
