BACKUP AND RECOVERY
Instant recovery, no data loss and
elimination of backup windows to allow 24 x 7 processing are key requirements
in today’s global market. Anything less is below today's baseline standard.
Dimension Data’s Backup and Recovery solution provides companies with the
assessment, design and implementation framework for an enterprise-wide backup
and recovery infrastructure. We also draw on our considerable experience in
this area to help businesses in defining service levels, creating or
modifying processes and procedures and most importantly, testing and
re-testing its ability to recover.
The offering starts with a knowledge
gathering exercise to understand your current infrastructure and the service
levels in place. Then, we design Recovery processes to match the service
level requirements. Finally, the new infrastructure is sized and implemented
with processes and procedures documented.
Our solutions provide the following
business benefits:
- Peace of mind in knowing that you can
recover;
- Infrastructure that matches your
service levels;
- Reduction or elimination of backup
windows;
- Rapid recovery of information and
services;
- Consolidation and automation of backup
infrastructure;
- Process and procedure documentation;
and
- Skills transfer to your administrative
staff.
We believe that the best strategy for
continued preparedness is a combination of regular Backup and Recovery
assessments. We have therefore designed a Backup and Recovery Surveyor, an
integral component of our Backup and Recovery offering to assist companies to
stay on top of current threats.
Backup & Recovery Surveyor
Our Backup & Recovery Surveyor is designed to
assess your capability to recover key servers and information, including the
current backup and recovery infrastructure, processes and documentation,
staff skills and readiness to perform a recovery when required. Backup &
Recovery Surveyor includes an assessment of:
- Your backup and recovery infrastructure
including networks, tape drives, tape autoloaders, and/or tape
libraries;
- Backup and recovery processes and
procedures, including backup windows, backup procedures, media rotation
and replacement;
- Backup and recovery documentation and
staff skills; and
- We also assess your staff’s ability to
recover by running through a simulated disaster and critiquing a test
recovery.
When performed every quarter, the
Surveyor can ensure that backup and recovery systems are always at the ready
and optimised for the highest levels of performance and reliability.
