wireless lan deployment technologies

When Dimension Data builds our client’s wireless LAN, they get all the functionality of a wired LAN, without the constraints of a physical cabled connection. A wireless LAN can provide rapid, seamless connectivity, based on new technology standards like 802.11n, achieving near parity with wired networks. We have helped many companies upgrade their base wireless infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of their business and the demands of a mobile workforce.

Dimension Data deploys wireless networking equipment in enterprise and other indoor environments using technology based on the 802.11 wireless networking standard. Our expertise is with controller-based architectures ensuring effective operation and management of the wireless network. Dimension Data has Cisco Advanced Wireless LAN Specialisation in all of our regions and we leverage other solution partners in our delivery of mobility solutions and services like Location and Voice on top of the base infrastructure.

As organisations and their employees require (and expect) pervasive coverage in all areas where they work, we have provided Wireless Mesh solutions for our clients who require extension of wireless connectivity outdoors over large coverage areas. Mesh is a network topology where devices connected w/ redundant connections b/w nodes. A Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) uses wireless technology to quickly and effectively provide communication as it is self forming and self managing. Dimension Data is Cisco Mesh Advanced Technology Provider (ATP) certified in multiple countries.

Additional outdoor wireless solutions, for service providers, municipalities and other government agencies, employ WiMax technology. Wireless metropolitan area networks (WMANs) implement the 802.16 technology standard to meet a variety of requirements from high-speed wireless data communications over city-sized distances to backhaul solutions to complement WMN and Wireless LAN deployments.
