corporate social responsibility
“Dimension
Data is committed to being a socially responsible company for the benefit of
our staff, stakeholders, vendors and clients. We are immensely proud of the
impact our CSR programs are having on local communities, our employees and
the environment.”
Steve Nola, Australian CEO, Dimension Data
Dimension
Data launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in Australia
in 2004. The goals of our CSR program were to:
- Build a sustainable organisation
- Enhance our stakeholder experience, and
- Develop our people and culture.
Our
people selected three areas of focus for our CSR activities: children,
education,
and environment.
Our ‘Heads, Hearts and Hands’ (HHH)
program was established soon after to channel the enthusiastic participation
by our people in a range of volunteering, fundraising and mentoring
activities, centred on these three focus areas. HHH continues to grow today
and embraces a wide range of vibrant projects and volunteering opportunities.

‘Heads’ ensures we make our own
innovation and expertise available to social entrepreneurs in the
community; ‘Hearts’ is about supporting causes for which our staff are
passionate; ‘Hands’ means getting involved on a grassroots level through
volunteering, mentoring or fundraising.

In
recent years, we have built on the environmental aspect of our CSR program at
a corporate level, reflecting the increasing importance placed on global
climate change by our staff, clients and other stakeholders. We are currently
looking at the role IT can play in reducing carbon emissions and are
developing solutions and services around the concept of ‘Carbon-Friendly Infrastructure’.
We
don’t see CSR as a matter of simply signing a cheque here and there, or
trooping out to paint the local school once a year. CSR is not an ‘add-on’
for us – it’s embedded in our business.
