Assessment Services
- People - the skill and ability of
organisational resources to deliver on the project;
- Processes - the effectiveness and
efficiency of IT processes and supporting procedures; and
- Technology – the status, suitability
and health of the existing IT infrastructure.
Dimension Data helps clients to assess
their IT infrastructure in two ways:
An Environmental Assessment that serves to baseline the
current state of desktop infrastructure and documents the findings. This
assessment typically identifies:
- The number of desktops connected to the
network;
- Computer hardware specifications;
- Operating systems and maintenance level
including service packs and patches applied;
- Software versions installed and
maintenance applied; and
- The architecture and health of the
supporting management and network service infrastructure.
An analysis of the baseline data is used
to identify areas for improvement that will result in enhanced productivity
and reduced IT services costs. The analysis typically involves a comparison
of the current state against reference architectures, design recommendations
and processes based on industry best practices. The resulting Environmental
Assessment report documents environmental gaps, change recommendations and
next step planning and strategy execution.
The complementary Operational
Assessment provides a holistic review of IT service provision within an
organisation by reviewing IT operational processes and the resulting business
value.
A direct relationship exists between an
organisation’s operational maturity, IT support costs, customer satisfaction
ratings and the ability to drive business innovation. The Operational
Assessment evaluates operational maturity, with input from both the business
and IT. This assessment provides recommendations on the most cost effective
way to achieve the appropriate operational maturity.
