Ardock Youth Foundation’s Literacy Buddies Programme

Ardoch Youth Foundation helps disadvantaged children to participate fully in education. Its Ardoch Literacy Buddies programme pairs a class of students (‘Little Buddies’) with a corporate volunteer (‘Big Buddies’), who then exchange monthly letters. This encourages students to read and write, and provides meaningful interactions with a positive working adult role models. The Big Buddies visit the children twice during the course of the programme.

In Australia, 21 Dimension Data ‘Big Buddies’ signed up to become pen pals with a Year 2 class from St Kilda Primary School. Making a difference to the ‘Little Buddies’ is incredibly rewarding. During the mid-year visit to the school, our Big Buddies spent the morning in the classroom and enjoyed a morning tea provided by the children.
