Service Provider Solutions
Worldwide deregulation, coupled with the convergence of communication technologies, has caused previously clearly defined roles – voice, data, mobile, fixed and cable – to blur. This has created opportunities for additional revenues, while at the same time eroding prices on traditional services due to increased competition.
Dimension Data helps service providers around the world to boost their revenues with competitive new offerings, and to lower their costs by optimising processes and maximising their technology investments. Our rare combination of IP heritage and OSS expertise, alliance relationships, global reach and project delivery capabilities make us the integrator of choice for service providers worldwide.

Telecommunications operators across the African continent have a growing need to reduce the costs associated with managing their IT assets and infrastructures.
Dimension Data, the continent’s leading ICT Company, is responding to this need by working with telecommunications service providers to reduce costs with Virtualisation, Desktop-as-a-Service (DAAS), Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) and Cloud Computing.
Virtual Desktop Integration (VDI) and DAAS assists in driving cloud computing services as clients push for de-capitalising IT.
Whether a company decides to take a phased approach by moving to a Private Cloud first before adopting cloud computing services offered by leading service providers, or makes the migration directly to a Cloud Computing environment off the enterprise’s premises, Dimension Data is able to guide an enterprise through the process.
In some cases enterprises may be initially uncomfortable with having their data residing in a data centre that is off-premise and therefore not under their control.
With the necessary skills, and a first-class track record, Dimension Data’s Service Providers team assists enterprises in taking the steps to improved overall efficiency and streamlined business processes.
This is achieved by offering managed services and IT training where it makes sense for the client, thus improving their overall experience.
The Dimension Data Service Provider team will assist organisations in both enterprise VDI and DAAS.
With enterprise VDI, corporate owned desktops are substituted for virtual desktops housed on the corporate owned hosting environment. This dramatically reduces desktop deployment complexity, and improves security, due to desktops being centrally managed from one local area.
DAAS enables the infrastructure that hosts the virtual desktops to be truly outsourced – owned and operated by a Service Provider. DAAS is better suited for organisations that are looking to lower desktop capital- and operating expenditure. In this scenario, the Dimension Data Service Provider team will “sell with”, or work with, the Service Provider, to virtualise their environment first and then assist with hosting organisations in the Service Provider data centre.
DAAS is just the beginning of a longer term vision of the branch office in the cloud – by virtualising and centralising all physical IT assets that currently live in a distributed environment into a service provider cloud. By doing so, enterprises can finally get out of the extremely costly business of maintaining IT assets at their branches.
