I'm sure that you've been following the story regarding the new DNS security threat and its implications for the security of all Internet and network-based applications.  You may have already patched your DNS servers, but the first round of DNS fixes was just a stopgap. Patched servers have been attacked successfully, and more DNS patches are a certainty.  The new DNS exploit is receiving worldwide attention, with Statements made by Industry analyst and even front page news by leading news papers:

Gartner

“There are already credible reports of increased DNS cache-poisoning attacks "in the wild," which indicate that attackers are attempting to exploit this vulnerability. Emerging technical details have caused Gartner to revise its original view of the potential enterprise impact of this vulnerability and the urgency of the enterprise response to it.”

BBC News

“Fix found for net security flaw: Computer experts have released software to tackle a security glitch in the internet's addressing system.”

Wall Street Journal, Front page

“Firms tackle Security Flaw in Web Addressing system”

The bottom line is that there’s a new security arms race now between hackers and DNS systems. Patching does not solve the issue; it only makes it more difficult to hack the system. Companies will be required to patch many, many times before a final “fix” is available.
