Our
CSI Approach
At
Dimension Data South Africa, we regard our CSI initiatives as one of our
greater achievements.
To
us, CSI is about bridging the gap between the historical disadvantages and
the possibilities of the future. It is about ensuring that we nurture that
important link between the company and the community.
With
a primary focus on the development of skills and employment opportunities
within the ICT sector, emphasis is placed on empowering and enabling
previously disadvantaged individuals and communities, in order to create
sustainability.
CSI
Initiatives
Dimension
Data focuses on partnerships with local communities that can contribute
meaningfully to their continued viability and upliftment. We do this by
supporting communities and individuals, with a focus on projects that support
skills development and education, community reconstruction projects and
mentorship.
The Dimension Data Saturday School was
opened in 1995 to introduce youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds to
computers and to help them improve their school grades. Run from the
Dimension Data’s head office in Gauteng, the Saturday School provides an
environment in which enthusiastic Grade 11 and 12 learners are exposed to a
broader academic and corporate world.
The eLearning Programme is an extension
of our Saturday School initiative. With this new initiative, we provide the
latest in technology and educational techniques to deliver effective and
collaborative learning to multiple schools across South Africa. Our aim: to
reach more than 40,000 learners by 2015.
- Classroom Infrastructure Assessment
Dimension Data, together with our
division, Internet Solutions and a Convergence Partners, have ‘adopted’
Tshwaragano Primary School in the Thokoza Township in Gauteng. Our aim is to
make this school a better learning environment. All the sponsors have
contributed to the infrastructural development of six classrooms and the
building of a library.
- National Business Initiative
Dimension
Data is a member and an annual contributor of the National Business
Initiative (NBI) which was launched by former President Mandela in 1995, and
is a business coalition between well-known local and international
companies. The NBI focuses on creating sustainable growth and development
through the identification of critical programmes that require funding for
analysis, research and implementation.
