Allow experts-only to manage your SAP hybrid IT estate

Opting for a hybrid SAP IT estate holds a lot of appeal because it gives your business speed, agility and flexibility. Along with the benefits of a hybrid IT SAP estate also come the complexity of managing a mix of on-premises and multi-clouds.

If you find managing your SAP hybrid IT estate a pain, you’re not alone…

A report from 451 Research commissioned by Dimension Data (Success factors for managing hybrid IT) found that for 42% of organisations, cloud management is one of the most challenging aspects of cloud deployment. Nonetheless, more than 70% of organisations plan to use more than one cloud service provider over the next two years.

When I talk to my clients, they say the real reasons for partnering are to make use of automation, interoperability and service management techniques that they themselves cannot provide, mainly due to capability or cost constraints.

When you share control of your SAP hybrid IT estate it’s important to know that you’re in good hands. Findings in the Success factors for managing hybrid IT indicate that enterprises partner with service providers because they want technical expertise at their disposal.

I also haven’t come across many clients that only have a single cloud service provider. This is partly because of the rapid rise of deployment environments in hyperscalers and an increasing number of cloud-enabled applications that comprise the IT architectures of today.

Another aspect you need to consider, is whether you can benefit from a single provider to manage multiple vendors in your SAP hybrid IT estate.

The difficulty is that SAP hybrid IT architectures include accountabilities and responsibilities that cross organisational boundaries and can extend beyond traditional cloud infrastructure to Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) providers.

Organisations (and yours included) can, therefore, benefit hugely from a single service provider to manage multiple IT vendors. This service provider can provide single management accountability and an integrated reporting view across your entire SAP hybrid IT estate.

When you select a single partner to manage your entire SAP hybrid IT estate, again, I cannot emphasise enough that you need to select a proven company with multiple business use cases to ensure a successful outcome.
