Dimension Data sells its business in Portugal to local management
Dimension Data, the US$ 7.5 billion global ICT solutions and services provider, today announced that it has signed an agreement to sell its Portugal business to Carlos Inocencio, the company’s current Managing Director and Carlos Alves Duarte, former Portugal Telecom Executive Board Member for an undisclosed sum.
Dimension Data acquired the Portugal business through the acquisition of NextiraOne in January 2014. As a global business, Dimension Data’s focus is on growing a sustainable, profitable organisation, and while the business has seen success in that country, Dimension Data has experienced challenges in the application of its Dimension Data business model in Portugal. Consequently, both Dimension Data and the Acquirers concluded that the sale of the business to the management team in Portugal was the right step forward for both companies.
Going forward, Carlos Inocencio, Carlos Alves Duarte and their team in Portugal will continue to work with Dimension Data as a Preferred Partner. On completion of the transaction on 12 October, the company’s name will change to WarpCom Services, S.A. Dimension Data Portugal did employ 95 staff.
